MacRitchie Reservoir

Community Partners: Hwa Chong Institution,
Singapore Civil Defence Force

Completed in 1868, MacRitchie Reservoir is one of Singapore’s first reservoirs located within the nature reserves. The reservoir waters are pristine as they are left in their natural states. Today with its lush greenery, MacRitchie Reservoir is a popular recreational space for the community, bringing people closer to nature and our waters.

The ABC Waters Learning Trail @ MacRitchie Reservoir offers students an experiential experience, coupled with a hands-on approach to learning about water quality, biodiversity and the human impact on our waterways.
The site-specific Learning Trail covers the unique Active, Beautiful, Clean Waters (ABC Waters) features that marry function with beauty.

Students will also learn more about the Singapore Water Story – the humble beginnings of how a small city-state which used to face huge challenges, such as droughts and pollution, has since transformed into a global hydrohub and a vibrant City of Gardens and Water.
